HubSpot Accessibility Audit: Forms, Chat, and the Marketing Stack

For the marketing team on HubSpot CMS whose pages exist to convert, and who'd rather not exclude a slice of every campaign's audience.

What We Keep Finding

HubSpot sites are conversion machines, so forms, popups, chat, meeting embeds. Each one is also an accessibility hotspot. The form that posts errors nobody hears, the chat launcher that steals focus, the popup that opens on a timer right over whatever the visitor was reading.

The form fix is simpler than most people are told, and it works on every tier. Turn the visible labels back on. That is HubSpot's own first piece of guidance and it is the one change that survives every editor version, where the developer-flavored answers people reach for are gated behind a plan and only exist in the legacy editor anyway. A field labeled by its placeholder alone still gets a name, which is why your scanner passes it, and it still fails the rule about labels and instructions, which is why our reviewer does not.

The chat widget needs a more careful test than it usually gets, and in both directions. A widget that holds focus is not automatically a failure, because the rule says focus has to be movable away by keyboard and that if it takes something other than Tab, the user has to be told how. So a chat panel that releases on Escape and says so conforms. And a chat bubble partly covering the field you just tabbed to passes at Level AA too, since that rule is about a control being entirely hidden. Both of those get written up as failures constantly, and both cost somebody a sprint they did not owe.

Marketing pages also churn fast. The fix that matters most is usually in the theme and module templates, so next month's landing pages are born right instead of audited later.

What We Check

  • Test your core templates and modules, the source of every new page
  • Run HubSpot forms end to end, error states included
  • Check whether fields carry real labels or only placeholders, which is the failure a scanner passes
  • Check popups, banners, and chat for focus behavior, and for whether an unusual exit key is announced
  • Verify meeting and video embeds are reachable and labeled
  • Rank fixes at theme level, so future pages inherit them

What You Get

Every service on this site runs the same three-pass engine: an automated scan, an expert review of all 55 WCAG 2.2 A and AA rules, and a hands-on session with a professional blind screen-reader user. You get one report with every finding screenshotted, ranked by user impact, and linked to its fix. Your team fixes, we verify: the re-audit is half price within 3 months.

The format is not a mystery either. Read the sample report before you spend anything.

The Honest Limit

One honest limit, plus something the free scan cannot do for you here. HubSpot's own widget internals, meaning chat and meetings, update on their schedule rather than yours, so we document their behavior at test time, date it, and separate it from the fixes your team owns. And two of the checks above describe states our scanner cannot reach at all, since it never submits a form and it evaluates the page well before a popup on a timer has appeared.

What It Costs

Rapid Audit: $499, up to 10 pages you pick, report in 5 business days. Standard Audit: $1,499, up to 25 pages in 10 business days. Flat rates, no discovery calls, and a real blind screen-reader user on every engagement. Pick your pages. We bring the humans.
