Checkout Accessibility Audit: Cart to Confirmation, by Ear
For the store owner who wants one question answered ahead of all the others. Can a customer who cannot see the screen actually give us money? Everything else on the site is downstream of that answer.
What We Keep Finding
Here is the test that decides it. Our blind tester finds your product, adds it to the cart, and starts paying. Is the address form labeled, or is every field a guess? Do the card fields announce themselves, or sit there silent? When something is wrong, does anything say so, or is it painted red somewhere nobody hears?
Checkout is also the one place the standard names on its own account. Conformance is defined per page, a purchase is a series of pages, and W3C's own worked example is a store, saying that every page in the series has to conform before any single one of them does. One broken step breaks the whole process, including the four steps you got right. That is why the purchase flow produces more findings per page than anywhere else on a store in our audits, and it is why the free scan cannot settle this for you. It sees one state per page and never puts anything in a cart, so it never reaches step two.
How much of what we find is yours to fix depends on where your checkout runs, and that is worth knowing before you read the report. On some platforms the checkout markup belongs to the platform and you get a settings editor. On others you own the whole flow and every plugin that touched it. Same finding, completely different Monday, so every item gets marked with whose it is.
What We Check
- Run the full purchase with a screen reader, cart through address and payment to confirmation
- Test every field for a real label, a usable hint, and an error somebody can find
- Check the order summary reads correctly, so items, totals, and shipping
- Verify timeouts and session expiry do not eat a slow, careful entry
- Check a sticky summary bar does not hide the focused field completely, which is where the AA line sits
- Test keyboard-only from product page to confirmation, no mouse allowed
- Mark which findings are yours and which belong to a hosted checkout you cannot edit
What You Get
Every service on this site runs the same three-pass engine: an automated scan, an expert review of all 55 WCAG 2.2 A and AA rules, and a hands-on session with a professional blind screen-reader user. You get one report with every finding screenshotted, ranked by user impact, and linked to its fix. Your team fixes, we verify: the re-audit is half price within 3 months.
The format is not a mystery either. Read the sample report before you spend anything.
The Honest Limit
One honest limit, plus the thing we need from you. Checkout pages count toward your Rapid Audit's 10, so this is not a separate product with a separate price. A cart, an address step, a shipping step, a payment step, and a confirmation is five of the 10 before you have added a product page. If your checkout runs long, Standard's 25 pages is the room to do it properly. And to reach the payment step at all we need a test mode, a sandbox, or a test card, which we ask for at scope confirmation. Without one, the report stops at the last step we could actually complete and says so.
What It Costs
Rapid Audit: $499, up to 10 pages you pick, report in 5 business days. Standard Audit: $1,499, up to 25 pages in 10 business days. Flat rates, no discovery calls, and a real blind screen-reader user on every engagement. Pick your pages. We bring the humans.
